Today it’s all about securing your space out of unwanted guests. After we talked about iTwin SecureBox that is claimed to be able to repel any hackers from your cloud, now we have Lockitron from Apigy. It’s not necessarily the same with SecureBox from iTwin as it’s not meant to deal with digital cloud space. Instead, it is invented to provide alternative for traditional lock mechanism common in almost all doors nowadays.
In a glimpse, Lockitron looks just like a nice door treatment with minimalistic modern design but more than that, this device actually helps you lock away your living space. In terms of connectivity, it makes use of Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, and the trending NFC. That said, you’re going to need a smartphone to be able to use this. Note that it doesn’t have anything to do with the platform of the phone. You can either use iPhone or Android as long as it’s got one or all of those sets of connectivity.
To blend Lockitron into the system, you will need to install and attach it to the door’s bolt. If your smartphone is NFC-enabled, you can simply swipe your handset against the device. For Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, simply turn them on, and walk toward the device, It will unlock by itself. How neat!. You can check the video below to see Lockitron in action. By the way, you need to download the app and sign up for an account prior to use it.
Actually, Lockitron is an old project but in the past, it was far less favorable. Now will all the nice improvements Apigy has given, it turns into one slick little device that can reject any suspicious person!
