Min7 Micromouse Robot Solves Maze Less than 4 seconds

a lecturer at Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) named Ng Beng Kiat and his robotic mouse named Min7 recently has broken the world record in Micromouse Robot Competitions 2011, which was held at Tsukuba, Japan. In this competition there are two stages, first stage the robot enters a labyrinth and have a chance to mapping it, the second stage the robot should be able to complete the maze that has been mapped earlier as fast as possible. Robots that successfully completed the maze in the fastest time was the winner. simple right? the rules was simple, but I’m sure to make the robot to be like that is not easy. Check the video below to see Min7 in action :

The video above is when Min7 mapping its the maze that has been entered, and video below is when Min7 successfully completed the maze in just 3921 seconds:

Very fast right? just additional information, weight of the min7 is 90 grams and measures 10 x 7.5 x 2.5cm. It has a straight line speed of 3.5m/s and uses a 20MHz Hitachi 2633R processor for a brain.
