Who doesn’t like to be a spy? Spies always wear expensive and neat suits with expensive haircuts too. They always look stunning when something explodes behind them. Beautiful ladies are always around them. And the most moth-watering thing about becoming a spy is you’re given full access to some of the coolest gadgets in the world.

Anyway, if it is only a pen scanner that you want, you don’t need to be a spy. Hammacher Schlemmer has made one that you can purchase for about $120. The thing is called Pen Sized Scanner and it’s exactly what the name tells you. On the top of the pen is an integrated 5MP sensor capable of scanning any document you want. To make the results more appealing, it’s complemented with an autofocus lens.

As soon as the shutter button is pushed, a red laser will outline the area that is going to be scanned. It would be nice if it can also flash the mind-modifying light you see in MIB. The results of the scan will be formatted in JPEG with default resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels.

Pen Sized Scanner also ships with an integrated 1GB of memory. According to the developer, it should be good to store up to 1,000 scanned images. There is nothing that enables you to make a written annotation but you can make a sound file via the built-in microphone.

Given that it’s an electronic device, it does come with a battery. For one hour of charge via the provided USB port, Pen Sized Scanner can perform 300 scanning to satisfy your spy obsession. All that being said, this thing is quite cool, actually.
