PhoneJoy Play Is a Joystick That Fits All Sizes of Smartphones
Speaking of a joystick that is made solely to boost your gaming experience on your smartphone, there are lots of options which already hit the market. Developers see a huge opportunity to make such a device because playing game with on-screen controls is just not enjoyable. The latest one of such a device is the PhoneJoy Play.
Compatible with both Android and iOS devices, even PCs, it promises all but playful and fun hours. It features a telescoping design which you can extend to a certain length to fit your handset’s size. The maximum space it can provide for your device to fit in is 153mm. Since it also supports portrait orientation, you can literally snuggle any handsets on its middle, even the gigantic Galaxy Note II.
PhoneJoy Play only has support for Bluetooth-enabled device; guess that’s the reason why iOS devices are also compatible with it. If you wish to connect it with your PC or laptop, you may need an adapter. Battery is claimed to last up to 20 hours in a single charge. In terms of buttons, it’s got a truckload of them. The working prototype has been touted at Kickstarter and you can watch it in action in the video below.
Anyway, since it uses Bluetooth, you have to make sure that the game you’re playing has support for Bluetooth third party controls. That won’t be too much of a problem, though, because the majority of games on both Google Play and Apple App Store have included such a feature. The preorder price is currently $50 and PhoneJoy team wishes to collect $50,000 from the crowds to initiate the mass production. Anyone wants to help them out?
