Pico Projector Technology: Make your phone calls more interactive (Video)

Monday, November 14th 2011. | Mobile Phones

You certainly know that it is not easy to collaborate with someone when we talk with them by phone, such as sharing data with each other. the problem is not all phone devices allow us to use the touch screen, even if you can use it, the display is usually too slow. That’s why researchers from the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany developed a new system that combines pico projector technology together with a smartphone that can make your phone calls more interactive and of course give you a new way to share data with each other by phone.

Pico Projector Smartphone

So this is how it works, this device will project an image onto a surface, which is roughly the size of two tablets. One of the screens would be your smartphone and the other is someone else’s screen that you are talking on the phone, assuming that you are both using the same device. Through this screen you can share data with each other such as documents, maps, calendars, etc. and of course the screen is updated in real time once you drag and drop files onto the screen respectively. so you both will know it when there is changes have been made.

Considering the device is still a prototype and is still in development stage, the size of this device is not small and rather bulky. But hopefully when the device is ready for production, they managed to shrink the size. By the way, if you want to see this device in action, check the video below :
