Renault Twizy Sport F1 Is an Absurd EV Concept with Too Much Horsepower
I used to think that electric vehicles can in no way thrill their driver but that’s until I discovered this Renault Twizy Sport F1. Instead of providing you with a boring driving experience in low speed, this EV has enough horsepower to pump up your adrenalin and make you shiver in admiration. How do you like that?
Actually, Renault Twizy is not a new car. It was unveiled for the first time last year and quickly gained its fame as Renault claimed that it’s the smallest electric car in the planet. What is more interesting from tiny vehicle, however, is the way Renault promotes it. October last year, the company wanted to show the world just how tough this little beast is, so they sent it over to a Paris firefighter team to help the folks tame the wild blaze. Now it’s up again but with entirely different costume, a sport F1 car.
The back seat in the original Twizy is lifted and replaced by an 80-hp KERS unit. The tires are grabbed from a the company’s F2 car and forget about it retaining the dull looking steering wheel because it sports the one found in Formula 3.5 Renault. Heck, it’s even equipped with a front splitter and sidepods. The only thing from Renault Twizy Sport F1 that screams “I’m an EV” is its un-aerodynamic design.
“So, how fast this thing is” you say? Well, it can accelerate from 0-60mph in only six minutes which equals to Renault’s fastest car, the Megane. The top speed, however, is stuck at 68mph. Head over to Barcelona Motor Show, Spain to watch it live.
