The Virtuix Omni VR Treadmill Makes You Fit While Gaming All Day All Night
In the future, parents won’t be able to sue any game and console makers for making a game so cool that it makes their kids unable to get away from it and in the end, they become obese. It all thanks to motion controllers that keep improving from time to time, turning existing device such as Microsoft Kinect into somewhat a thing of the past. The latest of motion controller is The Virtuix Omni VR Treadmill.
It’s an omnidirectional treadmill made by Virtuix for home gamers to promote a more active gaming experience, hence it’s called Omni.As for the VR, it actually stands for virtual reality which user can enjoy if they have a headset similar to Oculus Rift. Firstly seen at CES 2013 a couple of months ago, Virtuix recently came up with a video showcasing a brief demo of its stuff paired with Oculus Rift. Check how the dudes running statically on The Virtuix Omni VR Treadmill while playing a shooter game.
Along with The Virtuix Omni VR Treadmill comes a pair of special shoes you have to wear in order for it to function. Both the shoes sole and the surface of the treadmill is made to have a low friction but fear no embarrassing fall because the unit comes with adjustable waist support which appears as a ring belt. According to Virtuix, current development focuses on making the contraption compatible with many PC games. However, they do wish that in the future, it can be used to play PlayStation and Xbox games. Expect to see it launch at Kickstarter in May with pledge ranging from $400-$600.
