ViSi Mobile Monitor Displays Your Current Vital Signs
We have hardly noticed any new and innovatively ground breaking gadgets in medical section in the last few months now. However, it doesn’t mean that they are of nonexistence. Developed by Sotera Wireless, ViSi Mobile Monitor aims to provide a quick and easy alternative to monitor patients’ vital signs.
The idea is to make a device that can perform all of the basic measurement over the patients without practically limiting the patients’ movement. Compared to today’s ICU monitors, the ViSi Mobile Monitor is a lot more compact as it allows the patients to strap it on their wrist.
According to the company’s words, it can continuously check six vital signs namely heart rate, respiration rate, blood pressure, body temperature, oxygen saturation and ECG. They are represented with different colors to facilitate reading. In order to perform such an exhaustive measurement, it will need to be connected with a few accompanying modules. In addition to its monitoring capability, the ViSi Mobile Monitor can also sends all the data it records to the caretaker’s station and smartphone via Wi-Fi. Since it’s not meant to provide patients with some fun, the company excludes any fun elements from it. Thus, it only has a display with resolution of 160 x 128 pixels. The latest update has it that FDA has given its approval and right now the device is put on a test in both US and UK.
When it’s finally available in hospitals, there will be no more nurses who are worried to death about noticing sudden heart stop on their station just because the patients take off the monitoring wires and sensors for they want to go to the bathroom.
