There is really no end on the smartphone charger market. Every now and then, you see some new strange looking devices claimed to charge any mobile gadgets you have without the need of finding a wall outlet. Voltmakers that we’re going to talk about here is only one of them. The pitch is you can generate enough juice for your handset to facilitate a quick call while building your muscle.
Here is the how-to. Grab Voltmakers immediately after your handset notifies you about low battery power. Hook it up with your device via 5-volt Type A USB port rigged at the bottom of the charger. Release the rotating rod that is attached to the device’s body by a hidden magnet. Once set, start flicking your wrist until the rod begins to spin around. Do that until your handset is fully recharged and you’ll be surprise to see the result.
Sounds ridiculous, no? But seriously, if you put some efforts on it, you might eventually build some muscle though you might be desperate long before that. Anyway, that’s not the main purpose why Christophe Touchard develops Voltmakers. He wants to help people who frequently found themselves trapped in an emergency situation with their smartphone running out of juice. Spinning the device for a few minutes should generate enough electricity to make a quick emergency call. Check it out on the video below!
In addition to typical kinetic approach, Voltmakers also comes with a built-in 2,000mAh battery. It takes two hours to charge it but once it’s full, you no longer need to flick your wrist to get it to spin. Live at Indiegogo, Touchard wish to raise at least $200,000 to kick off its manufacturing. Quite ambitious, indeed, but he promises that if the campaign fails to raise the intended goal, all backers will be refunded.
