WeMo Light Switch Unveiled at CES, Controls Your Home Lighting over the Internet
At Vegas CES, Belkin has again drawn our attention with yet another contraption getting us closer to home management automation. Dubbed as WeMo Light Switch, the wireless lighting control has successfully made Belkin’s WeMo brand more apparent today. Taking the advantage of the internet, Belkin’s new light switch allows you to remotely control the entire lighting system in your house.
If we look at what we have run into in the last few months, wireless home lighting is not necessarily new. However, WeMo Light Switch stands out more, thanks to its more fundamental approach. Instead of making a smart light bulb that can be switched on and off via smartphone Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, Belkin blends its invention right into the depth of the electrical wiring of the house itself. While it’s more reliable, its installation might not be as easy as you think.
Once the installation completes, you can practically manage your home lighting via smartphone, tablet, PC, or whatever computing device you spend most of your time with. More conveniently, if you have a certain pattern in regards to the time where you switch the lighting on, you can make your own scheduling, making everything run in complete automation.
According to Belkin, the WeMo Light Switch is set to launch some time in this mid-year. The recommended retail price is $49. As for compatibility, it currently has support for Apple’s devices running iOS 5 or higher only. Those of you who use Android devices should wait for the company’s next announcement which is set on February. What do you, guys, reckon?
